Verdantis / Power systems
Energy
What the city spends.
Power is gathered where it falls, stored where it is needed, and moved only when it must be.
01 — Harvest
Power begins at the surface
Exposed surface is working surface. Roofs, façades, canopies and the long roofs of transit gather light as a matter of specification — not as equipment added after the drawing was finished. Building-integrated photovoltaics sit in the same plane as weather, shade, and planting.
The city does not become a power plant. It remains a city that happens to earn its sun.

02 — Storage
Keep the noon for
midnight
Generation and demand rarely arrive together. Surplus is held close to the rooms and districts that will spend it after dark: plate batteries, heat in water, mass where the ground allows, small reserves in the building itself. Movement across the basin is the exception.
The city does not ask the sun to work nights.
03 — Exchange
Move less. Balance more.
Energy should not travel farther than it must. Each scale balances generation, storage and demand before asking the next for help. Surplus is exchanged locally first.
-
Room
A lamp, a kettle, a workstation — spent where it is held.
-
Building
The plate shares noon with its own midnight.
-
Neighbourhood
Streets trade surplus before they call the district.
-
District
Storage and load meet without crossing the basin.
-
Basin
The last conversation, not the first.
04 — Recovery
Waste heat is still heat
Heat from computing, transit, refrigeration and industry is captured where the plumbing already exists. It becomes domestic water, district warmth, growing rooms, or the next industrial process. Recovery is incomplete by design. The ethic is not to discard what is still useful.

Compute
returns as warmth

Transit
returns to the district

Cold storage

05 — Baseload
When the weather cannot answer
Verdantis remains on the basin grid for hours when harvest and storage cannot meet demand. By 2189, mature fusion contributes dependable generation. It supplements distributed power. It does not replace it. Residents do not live beside a spectacle. They live on a system that stays quiet when the sun does.
Fusion is part of the grid. Not the grid.
- Local first
- generation near demand
- Storage second
- time-shift surplus
- Basin third
- shared resilience
- Baseload always
- stability beneath the system
